The medicinal part of the chrysanthemum is the flower. The flowers are usually picked from the plants and allowed to dry – not in the sun, but in the shade – before use, and are used raw. The flowers contain a volatile oil made of a variety of amino acids and other substances, including borneol, camphor, adenine, and small amounts of vitamin B1.
 
 
This commonly grown flower has shown “antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunodulatory, and neuroprotective effects,” according to the Chinese researsinusitisch which found some success in treating certain types of cancer using this extract along with other traditional Chinese medicines.
The research team, led by Prof. Zong-fang Li from the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Xi’an Jiaotong University, investigated the effects of Chrysanthemum indicum extract (CIE) on inhibition of proliferation and on apoptosis, and the underlying mechanisms, in a human cell line.
CIE interferes with the growth cycles of malignant cells, ending the rapid spread of the cancer cells in the body. The extract reprograms cells to die instead of grow by rewriting their mitochondrial code. When given enough time to spread from cell to cell, CIE destroys the cancer completely. CIE does all of this without harming healthy human cells. In fact, it had no effect on healthy cells surrounding cancer cells, leading scientists to conclude that CIE could become a very promising future treatment for cancer.CIE has shown a strong amount of anticancer activity in studies focused on liver cancer, metastatic breast cancer, and esophageal carcinoma.
Chrysanthemum extract works against malignant cells and stops the spread of those cancerous cells in the body. It is able to do this without harming healthy tissue in the body and therefore holds out great promise for the future.

Dosage

How To Make Chrysanthemum Tea

Ingredients:
Dried Chrysanthemum ½ oz
Water 2 cups
Sugar 2 teaspoons
Method:
1. Rinse the dried chrysanthemum under running water and drain the water from the flowers.
2. Put the flowers in water and bring it to rolling boil. Let the water boil for 20 to 30 minutes.
3. Towards the end of boiling time, add sugar and stir till the sugar dissolves.
4. Remove the tea from heat and let it cool.
5. Pour the chrysanthemum tea through a strainer and discard the chrysanthemum flowers.
6. Allow the juice to cool and then refrigerate. Serve over ice
If you are calories conscious, then you can skip sugar from chrysanthemum tea recipe.
Chrysanthemum Tea Directions: Boil 5 to 10 Chrysanthemum parthenium leaves or in a cup of water for 30 minutes to extract all the useful ingredients. Strain and drink 20 ml of this extract, twice daily for a week.

Super healthy skin come through healthy eating and taking care of your skin.  With new research, new products and new skin protection advice popping up all the time, it is hard to figure out the best things to do to improve and protect your skin. A skin care program is the combination of skin care products and a routine that will be most beneficial to the skin. You will first need to consider your diet and type of life-style since these two factors play an important role in the health of a person’s skin.

These days we seem to be living in the fast-food age and the condition of your skin is often neglected. You still can’t beat the old fruit and vegetable diet when it comes to good health and a good complexion.
Remember to feed and nourish your skin by eating the proper foods. Give your skin a drink too. Those eight glasses of water a day your mom always told you to be sure to drink are essential to maintaining your skin’s elasticity and suppleness, say experts. And don’t count coffee or any of the caffeinated sodas as part of the eight glasses because caffeine is dehydrating. The water you choose can be sparkling water, mineral or straight from the tap. Another suggestion is that you keep a liter-size bottle close at hand, or simply drink a glass or two with your meals, and a few in between.

You need to give some thought and consideration to the type of makeup you use. And be sure to clean your tools regularly. Things such as cosmetic brushes get dirty and can carry bacteria and germs and may cause skin irritations and breaking out. One of the leading cosmetic authorities suggests that cosmetic brushes be thoroughly cleaned at least twice a month. A good way is to soak brushes for about 10 minutes in a dish of warm, soapy water using mild liquid detergent or baby shampoo. Rinse and blot excess moisture with a towel and stand the brushes, handle end down, in a tall glass until they are thoroughly dry.
Keep environmental pollutants from being absorbed into the skin with a good moisturizer that also acts as a skin barrier. Check the labels for those with added Vitamin A, C and E, which help block the penetration of pollutants.

A good exercise program such as aerobics can activate and rejuvenate the skin and improve circulation and blood flow. Also, body sweat triggers production of sebum, which is the skin’s own natural moisturizer.
One skin care expert has come up with a do-it-yourself version of a treatment you may like to try. Stir the juice of half a lemon into one cup of plain yogurt. Keep it in the refrigerator and apply it as you would a cream every night before bed. You can even apply a thin coat of moisturizer over it is you like, after waiting about five minutes for the yogurt mixture to penetrate. With consistent use, you should see more even pigmentation and smoother skin in three to four weeks.

Get serious about stress reduction. Skin conditions such as acne appear on many people who are stressed out, and chronic skin conditions then to get worse. Set aside quiet time to meditate or daydream. Be sure to get enough sleep. To avoid morning eye or facial puffiness, sleep on your back so fluid doesn’t collect there. And, you can keep the oil from your hair away from your face by wearing a head covering or a soft headband when you go to bed. And keep in mind that too much stress can affect your overall health as well as your complexion.

Recipes For Shiny Hair
To give your hair a great shine and help remove soap build up.
Blondes — Add a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice to your rinse water. Brunettes and Redheads — Add a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your rinse water.Stir 1 teaspoon honey into 4 cups (1 quart) warm water. After shampooing, pour mixture through hair. Do not rinse out. Dry as normal.

Fruit Smoothie Hair Mask
Blend 1/2 a banana, 1/4 cantaloupe, 1/4 avocado, 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil and 1 tablespoon yogurt. For extra conditioning, squeeze in the contents of a vitamin E capsule. Leave in hair for 15 minutes.

Honey; Olive Oil Hair Mask
Mix 1/2 cup honey and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Work a small amount at a time through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap; leave on 30 minutes. Shampoo well and rinse.

Dandruff Treatment
Boil 7 heaping tablespoons dried thyme in 2 cups water for 10 minutes. Strain and cool. Pour 1/2 mixture over clean, damp hair. Massage into scalp, do not rinse. Use the rest of the solution another day.

Yogurt Hair Mask
Beat 1 egg white until foamy. Add to 6 tablespoons plain natural yogurt. Apply to hair in small sections at a time. Leave in for 15 minutes. Rinse.

Egg & Olive Oil Hair Mask
Mix two whole eggs with four tablespoons of olive oil. Smooth through hair. Wrap head with plastic wrap, and leave in hair for 10 minutes. Rinse well.

Homemade Conditioners

Mayonnaise is a great conditioner for dry hair. Depending on the length of your hair, apply approximately 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to your dry hair. Work into hair really well and then cover your hair with a plastic bag, allowing to set for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.
In a blender or food processor, combine 2 1/2 tablespoons dried milk, 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil, and 1 egg. Apply evenly to hair and let set for at least an hour. Shampoo and style as usual.

Hair Setting Lotions
Try dissolving a teaspoon of gelatin in a cup of warm water and use this as a setting lotion before styling hair. You can use this as a liquid or chill it and use it as a gel.
Dissolve 1 teaspoon sugar in 1 cup warm water and apply to damp hair before styling.
Combine 4 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons honey in a glass jar with a lid and shake until well blended. Let mixture sit for 3 to 4 days, and shake it occasionally. Rub mixture evenly into dry hair and wrap hair in plastic wrap, letting set for at least an hour. Shampoo as usual.
Mix together 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and 1 egg. Apply to hair and let set for about an hour. Shampoo as usual.
To help a flaky scalp, warm 2 to 3 tablespoons vegetable oil in the microwave (make sure it’s not too hot!) and then gently apply to scalp with cotton balls. Let set for at least an hour and then shampoo as usual.

Honey Mask Recipe
The best facial mask is honey. Place a cloth in warm water and apply to your face to open the pores. Smear on honey, and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then use cold water to close the pores. Use once a week.

Miracle Whip Exfoliator

“Yes, I am talking about the same Miracle Whip your Aunt Mable uses in her macaroni salad. Apparently, women all over the US are using this salad dressing ingredient on their faces to remove dead flaky skin.
I have not tried it myself, but supposedly, KRAFT MIRACLE WHIP Exfoliating Facial makes an amazing treatment for normalizing over-oily skin.
Here is how you apply this “miracle cream”:
Make sure all your hair is pulled back from your face. Apply a thin layer of the KMW all over your face, up to the eyelashes and make sure to also put some on your neck. The “fumes” from the vinegar may bother you so walk around the house to try to escape them. LOL!
Leave on for 10 minutes, then massage gently. The dead skin cells on your face will roll off in rubbery little balls. Rinse your skin with tepid water, then cleanse as usual following your regular beauty regime. If you apply the KMW every day, in 6-8 weeks your skin should be completely renewed.
I cannot help but wonder if this Miracle Whip eats away at the dead skin cells on your face, what does it do to the inside of the body when someone eats it?? Pretty scary!!! One person believes that the vinegar in the Miracle Whip is what causes the exfoliation and rejuvenation. If that is true, why not try a mixture of organic apple cider vinegar with some olive oil, apply that and see what happens? One could whip together the olive oil and apple cider vinegar, apply it to their face and then use the leftovers on their salad!
I think I will start experimenting with some ingredients and try to come up with a facial recipe to rival the KRAFT MIRACLE WHIP!”

Grape juice makes an excellent cleanser for any skin type. Simply split one or two large grapes, remove pips and rub the flesh over face and neck. Rinse off with cool water.

Oily Skin Mask Recipe
Mix 1 tsp. brewer’s yeast with enough natural yogurt to make a thin mixture. Pat this thoroughly into all the oily areas and allow it to dry on the skin. After 15 – 20 minutes, rinse off with warm water, then cool water and blot dry.
